Theme year 2022: People and time

Man and time

The focus of the 2022 theme year is once again on people: in the topics, and also directly in the various events and activities to which the MAINZER WISSENSCHAFTSALLIANZ 2022 invites you to participate!

"Tempus fugit – Time flies," stated the Roman poet Virgil over 2,000 years ago. And even today, we often say that we live in "fast-paced times." Yet time is a fixed unit – at least under the physical laws of our planet. However, our awareness of its transience is subjective and changes over the course of our lives or under the influence of special events. This special characteristic makes time a topic that, like no other, can link the most diverse disciplines of science: physics and philosophy, economics and history, psychology and law, and many more.

In our 2022 theme year, we want to explore the phenomenon of time with all its definitions and examine it from various (research) perspectives together with scientists and interested parties. Our successful event formats provide the ideal setting for researchers from various disciplines to engage in dialogue with each other and with the public.

So let's embark on an exciting journey through time together in 2022!

Whether it's Meenzer Science-Schoppe, Mainz Science Week, Science Sofa, open houses, Science Slam, or whatever else... The focus of all events is always the same: participate, have your say, and experience it all!
