Theme year 2023: People and community

People and community

The focus of the 2023 theme year will once again be on people: in the topics, and also directly in the various events and activities to which the MAINZER WISSENSCHAFTSALLIANZ 2023 invites you to participate!

Human beings cannot be conceived of without community with others. Community protects and strengthens the individual, and cooperation between communities leads to benefits for all involved. Even in the Judeo-Christian story of creation, it is said: "It is not good for man to be alone." However, immediately after the formation of the first community of Adam and Eve, its dark side also becomes apparent: Cain's murder of his brother Abel symbolizes the fragility of community due to the conflicts and violence that arise within it.

In its 2023 theme year "Humans and Community," the MAINZER WISSENSCHAFTSALLIANZ takes a close look at the human community, which is as vital as it is complex, as strong as it is vulnerable. And beyond. Together with scientists and interested parties, we want to examine the topic from various (research) perspectives. Our successful event formats provide the ideal setting for researchers from various disciplines to engage in dialogue with each other and with the public.

Whether it's Meenzer Science-Schoppe, the Science Sofa science market, open house days, Science Slam, or any other event, the focus is always on participation, discussion, and experience!
