Große Bleiche: Closure due to preparatory work for the state election
From March 9 to 21, 2026, Große Bleiche between Peter-Altmeier-Allee and Bauhofstraße will only be accessible as a one-way street from Peter-Altmeier-Allee to Bauhofstraße. At the same time, Kaiser Friedrich-Straße (between Hintere Bleiche and Grosse Bleiche) will also be closed - but the parking garage will remain accessible.
These closures are necessary because construction work is being carried out on Ernst-Ludwig-Platz and Helmut-Kohl-Platz for the broadcast of various media outlets covering the Rhineland-Palatinate state election. The Landtag underground car park can therefore only be accessed via Peter-Altmeier-Allee.
On Sunday, March 22, 2026 (state election day), the above-mentioned area will be completely closed.
In addition, for the above-mentioned reasons, Deutschhausplatz and Platz der Mainzer Republik will also be closed on Saturday/Sunday, March 21/22, 2026.
From Monday, March 23, 2026, this section will be open to traffic again as normal.
