Black art up close - The print store

The printing shop is the Gutenberg Museum's educational facility, serving as both a printing workshop and an experimental laboratory. It hosts numerous special tours and workshops for children, young people, and adults. As a unique project space, it also offers visitors the opportunity to experience printing history firsthand and experiment with their own written or printed materials.

Visitors of all ages—both amateurs and those trained in the printing trade—can immerse themselves in the "black art" at the print shop. Various lead and wood typefaces and printing presses invite creative experimentation and discovery; professional services round out the overall offering. The print shop is also happy to accept printing orders (business cards, document printing, gift cards, etc.).

Numerous event formats—from children's birthday parties to holiday programs—offer children and young people the opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of printing. Whether you want to set your own words, images, or fonts, or receive a practical introduction to the traditional craft of printing, the print shop turns creative (printing) wishes into reality.
