Starting in the summer of 2025, the Wirtschaftsbetrieb Mainz will construct a new flood protection wall near the railway bridge (blue line in the image). For the new section, piles will first be driven into the ground over a total length of approximately 120 meters. These will serve as the foundation for the future flood protection wall, which must be able to withstand the necessary pressure in the event of a flood.
If everything goes according to plan and the weather cooperates, the work will be completed by the end of the year.

Work is expected to continue in the Mainz-Mitte area in 2026.
