New road construction starts after Whitsun
Potholes, bumps caused by tree roots, cracks in the asphalt, and rainwater that no longer drains properly: these issues aren’t just unsightly—they can also pose a tripping hazard for cemetery visitors. That’s why several paths at the Gonsenheim Cemetery need to be repaired.
The first phase of construction will begin on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, approximately 50 meters to the left of the funeral hall at the side entrance (at the gate) between plots 21 and 38, and will extend up to the fork between plots 54 and 76. If everything goes according to plan and the weather cooperates, work on the first construction phase will take four to six weeks.
Burials may continue to take place without restriction. However, during this time, access (photo) to the cemetery is only possible via the maintenance yard and will be signposted accordingly.
