Civil protection
Civil protection encompasses all "preventive and defensive measures against large-scale hazards."
According to Section 24(5) of the LBKG, civil protection units are to be established in particular for the following capabilities:
- Command
- Fire
protection - Technical
assistance - Hazardous materials (CBRN)
- Medical
services - Social support - Food and
beverage
services
- Logistics - Psychosocial emergency
care - If
necessary: Water rescue - If necessary: Rescue from rough terrain
The following entities participate in disaster control (under public law):
- Mainz Fire Department (2 professional fire stations, 11 volunteer fire departments, 1 command unit)
- Senior Emergency Medical Team (LNG, provided by Mainz University Medical Center)*-
Organizational Leaders (OrgL, provided by ASB, DRK, JUH, MHD, RD Corneli)*
- Ecumenical Emergency Pastoral Care (NFSS)
- Federal Agency for Technical Relief (only upon request)
- German Armed Forces (in special cases, only upon request within the framework of administrative assistance)
