Modernization of the Gutenberg Museum: positive news for monument protection

In the 14th edition of the federal government's special monument protection program, the "Hotel Schwan" in Mainz was selected as one of more than 140 culturally significant monuments for renovation.

The federal government intends to contribute approximately €1.03 million in federal funds to the renovation of the former hotel. This was announced by Dr. Wolfram Weimer, the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media. The Hotel Schwan building is part of a small ensemble of cultural monuments of national importance and is to become part of the Gutenberg Museum, the world museum of printing.

Mayor Nino Haase and Building Commissioner Ludwig Holle emphasize in unison: "Even if it is only a small financial contribution, we are delighted with the signal this sends. This is where monument preservation and culture come together. We are extremely grateful for this opportunity for funding, which will certainly bring great benefits to the city and its community through the upgrading of the Hotel Schwan. We would like to thank everyone involved in this decision."

The decision will be announced gradually after the relevant authority in Rhineland-Palatinate has reviewed the application in accordance with subsidy law.
