The Supervisory Board of Zentralen Beteiligungsgesellschaft der Stadt Mainz mbH (ZBM) will decide on the appointment of the second managing director of Wohnbau Mainz GmbH at its meeting on March 27, 2026. Prior to that, its Personnel Committee will discuss the candidate proposal in detail. This is confirmed by Mayor Nino Haase, Chairman of the ZBM Supervisory Board: “The selection process was professional, thorough, and transparent. I am very pleased that, from a strong field of candidates with top-tier profiles, we can now present a proposal to the Supervisory Board that has absolutely convinced the entire selection committee in personal interviews, just as it had previously through the submitted documents.”

Regarding press reports that a candidate withdrew their application immediately before the final interviews, ZBM Managing Director Daniel Gahr comments: “It is entirely legitimate and not unusual for applications to be withdrawn during a hiring process. However, public statements created the false impression that an interview had been arranged without a proper application.” Rather, the correct fact is that, as in any standard application process, the applicants’ resumes and references were reviewed. Gahr: “All candidates invited to the final interview had submitted complete application documents and had completed preliminary interviews with the recruitment consultancy involved.”

Zentrale Beteiligungsgesellschaft der Stadt Mainz mbH (ZBM) oversees the city’s municipal companies, including Wohnbau Mainz GmbH. The chairman of the ZBM supervisory board is Mayor Nino Haase; the managing directors of ZBM are Daniel Gahr, Ludwig Holle, and Daniel Köbler.

At Wohnbau Mainz GmbH, one of the two managing director positions has been vacant since Franz Ringhoffer stepped down in December 2025. Roman Becker has been managing director of Wohnbau since 2023. The chair of the supervisory board is Jana Schmöller, who, in this capacity, was also a member of the selection committee.
