"Photovoltaics and industry"

PART 11 of the information series on solar energy
Free online lecture on the topic of photovoltaics and industry on Wednesday, 13.05.2026 from 18.00 to 19.30 hrs

Rising and volatile energy prices, combined with large areas of unused roof space, make the expansion of photovoltaic (PV) systems particularly attractive for businesses and commercial operators. Generating electricity on-site can significantly reduce energy costs, increase planning certainty, and even generate additional revenue through the sale of surplus electricity. Nevertheless, many businesses are hesitant to make the investment, whether due to high upfront costs or a lack of personnel.

Part 11 of the free online lecture series offers comprehensive information and practical solutions to overcome precisely these hurdles. The expert lecture covers the basics of PV use in the commercial sector, presents business models, demonstrates how implementation can work, and concludes with information on funding opportunities. A Q&A session makes it easier to get started with the topic of photovoltaics and commercial applications.

The event is part of the “Solar and Heat” online seminar series.

“Local businesses can also benefit from solar energy to cover part of their electricity needs themselves during peak production periods. That is why we are pleased to be able to support business owners on the path to the energy transition as part of the ‘Solar’ online seminar series,” emphasizes Janina Steinkrüger, Mainz’s Director of Environmental Affairs, in reference to the eleventh event in the ‘Solar’ online seminar series.

The information series is organized by climate protection managers in collaboration with adult education centers and the consumer advice center in the Rheinhessen-Nahe and Vorderpfalz regions.
