You can dispose of the following items with us:

• Batteries
• CDs and DVDs (without cases)
• Energy-saving light bulbs and LEDs (no neon tubes)
• Bottle corks (made of natural cork)
• Toner and ink cartridges (normal household quantities)
• Small electronic waste (max. one item with dimensions smaller than 40 x 40 x 20 cm) without lithium-ion batteries
• Water filters from the company "brita"
• Glasses and hearing aids (donated to BrillenWeltweit)
• Bottle caps (donated to the BlechWech campaign)

The Rhineland-Palatinate Consumer Advice Center also offers free, independent energy advice at the Mainz Environmental Store. This service is available on the first and third Thursday of every month from 12:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. by appointment (environmental hotline: +49 6131 12-2121).

Do you enjoy reading books and don't mind browsing through used books? Then why not do your bit for the environment: bring your finished books to the environmental store and swap them for books from the book exchange shelf. There's something for almost every reading taste! (CDs, DVDs, games, and vinyl records can also be exchanged.)

At the environmental store, you can also browse through reference books or study information material and trade journals in the reading corner while enjoying a cup of coffee.

A free service from KAW Mainz|Bingen AöR: Reuse instead of throwing away: Avoid waste! Too good for the trash? What is useless to one person and should be thrown away may still be useful to another. Unfortunately, however, one person often knows nothing about the other.

To bring interested parties together in an uncomplicated way, there is now this non-commercial exchange and giveaway market. Anyone can swap, give away, and search for items here privately, free of charge and with ease. Well-preserved furniture, functional electrical appliances, or other everyday items can find a new owner here.
The aim is to promote waste prevention and thus also protect the environment.

The environmental newsletter provides information on current events and interesting facts about nature conservation and environmental protection, as well as on current projects of KAW Mainz|Bingen AöR, Wirtschaftsbetrieb AÖR, Eigenbetrieb Stadtreinigung Mainz, and the Parks and Environment Department. Here you will find local dates and events, information on the main topics covered by the Umweltladen (environmental shop), and interesting facts about waste and recycling, energy, mobility, sustainability, water, and wastewater management. The environmental newsletter is free of charge and is published monthly.
