The purpose of the association (WAGM) is to promote assistance for refugees with an international outlook. The purpose of the association is realized in particular through:

1. Voluntary assistance for refugees through translation and support in dealing with official matters
   
   
2. Assistance for members of the association, e.g.:
   
   • death, baptism, marriage
   • Members who have language barriers are accompanied and supported during official visits
   • Homework supervision for schoolchildren
3. If invited by the school administration, the parents of association members are accompanied to ensure good communication and translation.
   
   
4. The association offers various tutoring courses, e.g., mathematics, chemistry, physics, French, and German for children of the association and for refugees.
   
   
5. Organization of cultural events, e.g., the association's Culture Day. At this event, African culture is presented through singing, dancing, drumming, art, and a fashion show. African food and drinks are sold during the event.
   
   
6. Promotion of development cooperation with West African countries
   
   
7. Promotion of internationalism, tolerance in all areas of culture, and the idea of international understanding
