If you are under 18 years of age and would like to start gainful employment (training), you must first undergo a medical examination (initial examination).
The examination will determine whether you are physically and developmentally suited for this occupation.
This is to prevent you from suffering damage to your health as a result of the work. After the examination, you will receive a certificate. You must present this to your employer.
You do not need an examination if you are starting a minor job or if you are only working for a short period of time (maximum 2 months). This applies, for example, to a vacation job or a student internship.
The state pays for the examination costs. You must apply for the initial examination in order for the examination costs to be reimbursed.
You make an appointment with your local registration office to obtain the examination authorization certificate (application).
You must bring identification (ID card, child ID card, or passport) with you to the appointment. The application itself is informal.
If your application is approved, you will receive an examination authorization certificate from the authorities. You must bring this with you to the examination.
You can decide for yourself which doctor you would like to see for the examination.
After the examination, you will receive a certificate. You must present this to your employer.
You must present the following documents for the examination:
- Examination authorization form signed by your parents
- Application for reimbursement of examination costs
- Survey form
After one year, you must undergo another examination. You must then submit this certificate to your employer again.
The examination must take place before you start work.
You must start work no later than 14 months after the examination.
