The Care and Living in Facilities Information and Complaints Hotline of the Rhineland-Palatinate Consumer Advice Center provides information and advice on issues such as problems with outpatient and inpatient care, questions about billing or contract terms of care providers, questions about long-term care insurance such as care levels and individual care services, and assessments by the medical service of health insurance companies. Anyone can find themselves in a situation where they are unable to make decisions for themselves due to an accident or illness.

In order to still be able to influence decisions, it is possible to appoint and authorize a trusted person in advance who can then make the necessary decisions in an emergency. This is done by means of a health care proxy.

If medical treatment is necessary, your attitude toward medical measures can be formulated in advance in a living will. This provides guidance to the treating physicians or the authorized representative.

Advice on powers of attorney and living wills is available from the guardianship authority or guardianship associations.
