At the city council meeting on October 1, 2014, Mayor and Finance Director Günter Beck presented the draft budget for 2015 and 2016. In contrast to the budget estimate from the 2013–2014 double budget, the administrative draft presented closes with an annual deficit of around €39 million in the operating budget. The annual deficit is thus 43% below the budget estimate of the last double budget.

Total expenditure of €604.7 million is offset by income of €568.1 million. The investment volume amounts to €118.3 million and mainly covers schools and daycare centers as well as urban development. On this

At the city council meeting on September 5, 2012, Mayor and Finance Director Günter Beck presented the draft budget for 2013 and 2014. In contrast to the budget estimate from the 2011–2012 double budget, the administrative draft presented closes with an annual deficit of around €62 million in the operating budget. The annual deficit is thus 31 percent below the budgeted amount in the last budget. This positive development was achieved on the one hand by factors such as the federal government's assumption of the costs of basic income support for the elderly and the positive trends in the overall economic development, but also by internal control processes and distributions from city-affiliated companies.

Nevertheless, the result will still be adjusted to take into account the state's preliminary data on key allocations and financial equalization contributions, which are not yet available, as well as the results of the new state financial equalization regulations. Similarly, the impact on the budget resulting from the planned participation in the state's municipal debt relief fund has not yet been taken into account. This too could still have a significant impact on the result.

Nevertheless, the result will be adjusted to take into account the state's preliminary data on key allocations and financial equalization contributions, which are not yet available, as well as the results of the new state financial equalization regulations. Similarly, the impact on the budget resulting from the planned participation in the state's municipal debt relief fund has not yet been taken into account. This could also have a significant impact on the result.

At its meeting on November 20, 2012, the city council approved the double budget in the version presented by the administration. The budgetary regulations for the years 2013–2014, which were adopted by the city council on November 20, 2012, were approved by the ADD Trier in February 2013 with conditions.
