Municipal Preventive Council staff unit

The Municipal Prevention Council Unit comprises the management of the Municipal Prevention Council (KPR) as well as the crime prevention division within the Department of Public Safety and Order.

The KPR functions as a network that brings together relevant stakeholders and specialized agencies to jointly develop solutions for local safety and prevention issues. The goal is to identify and reduce factors that contribute to crime in order to improve citizens’ quality of life by strengthening their sense of safety. Through regular exchange and the pooling of knowledge and resources, sustainable strategies and projects for crime prevention are to be developed.

Tasks of the Municipal Crime Prevention Council:
· Building a network of representatives from institutions, organizations, and specialized agencies that contribute to crime prevention
· Promoting the exchange of information and experiences among all participating stakeholders
· Coordinating and supporting projects to strengthen safety and social cohesion
· Developing, supporting, and implementing prevention measures
The executive board coordinates internal networking within the council and ensures a continuous flow of information. In addition, it maintains regular contact with existing state and national crime prevention networks. Other

responsibilities include overseeing and managing municipal prevention projects as well as their public relations efforts.
